April 2026 Updates from the eCash Team

The eCash team gave its April 2026 update yesterday on X:
Updates included:
eCash Network and Software Upgrades
The semiannual eCash network upgrade is on schedule for May 15th.
In preparation, Bitcoin ABC node software version 0.33.0 was released, introducing enhancements to the Avalanche Pre-Consensus and mining layers that enable the eCash network to handle much larger XEC transaction volume during periods of high activity.
Version 0.33.1 was also released, including the removal of UPnP in favor of more modern options and the cleanup of extra logs introduced in the previous version.
Version 0.33.2 was just released as well, introducing a new endpoint to the Chronik indexer and bringing some minor under-the-hood improvements.
eCash Ecosystem Updates
Firma achieved Swiss licensing milestone, marking progress in its regulatory development.
Proofofwriting.com re-launched as a write-to-earn platform on eCash (XEC), combining per-article paywalls with low-fee, wallet-based payments that flow directly between readers and authors on-chain.
Marlin Wallet released v2.0.1 with Firma support for sending and receiving stablecoins on eCash, and v2.1.0 with QR “Share image” support enabling direct app launch into pre-filled send flows, including from screenshots.
Blockchain Poker added support for Firma stablecoin.
Agora.Cash improved the order UX with full fee visibility, a simplified confirmation flow, and updated swap fee handling.
Cashtab completed its redesign with a new UI and also extended BIP21 to support send-to-many token transactions with full Cashtab integration.
News and Media Updates
eCash (XEC) was referenced in Arizona Senate Bill 1649 as part of a proposed digital assets reserve framework.
eCash founder Amaury Séchet appeared on the Bitcoin Takeover podcast, discussing the evolution of the Bitcoin protocol and the development of eCash.
Contests and Giveaways
Cain announced a 100M XEC contest for eCash origin stories written on Proofofwriting.com.
LetsExchange offered $50 worth of XEC to five winners for likes, reposts, follows, and comments.
Developer Updates
eCash Universal Payments is under development, introducing a universal pay.e.cash link that uses BIP21 requests to open transactions in supported apps as a unified payments UX layer for the ecosystem.
A generalized developer documentation hub was launched at docs.e.cash to consolidate eCash development resources.
May expects to be an even busier month with the network upgrade on the 15th and an interesting battle over the eCash brand name brewing with Bitcoin hardfork proponent Paul Sztorc who is repeating history by completing the same path that Amaury Séchet performed over the last nine years with a Bitcoin hardfork to scale transactions. Only this time, he wants to confiscate Satoshi's coins in the new fork, which many view as the antithesis of what blockchain technology and Bitcoin have always been about. Regardless of how this plays out, it will be an interesting month for sure.
